The Federation of Thai Industries (hereinafter referred to as “FTI” or “we”) places great importance on the protection of personal data, particularly for individuals applying for membership with the GS1 Thailand Institute. To ensure your confidence that we safeguard and handle your personal data in compliance with data protection laws, we have prepared this Personal Data Processing Notification to inform you of the details regarding the collection, use, and disclosure (collectively referred to as “processing”) of your personal data, as well as to inform you of your rights and our contact channels.
1. Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data
We may process your personal data for the following purposes:
1.1 To fulfill your requests for GS1 membership registration, such as processing membership applications, issuing Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN) and/or Global Location Numbers (GLN), and conducting various transactions.
1.2 For the legitimate interests of FTI or related individuals or legal entities, such as creating databases, compiling statistical data regarding website and application visits of GS1 Thailand and GS1 AISBL (the GS1 Global Office), and disclosing membership status through the GS1 Thailand and GS1 AISBL websites, databases, and applications.
1.3 For necessity in performing duties for public interest missions or exercising official authority granted to FTI.
1.5 To comply with applicable legal obligations.
1.6 To fulfill purposes based on the consent you have provided (if any).
In cases where the personal data collected is necessary for the performance of a contract or for compliance with legal obligations, failure to provide such necessary data may result in our inability to process transactions or manage contracts with you, as applicable. Moreover, if you provide us with personal data of other individuals, you are responsible for notifying them about this Personal Data Processing Notification and/or obtaining their consent where required.
2. Categories of Personal Data Collected
2.1 General Personal Data:
(1) Identifying Information such as name, surname, national ID number, date of birth, gender, age, photographs, and signature.
(2) Contact Information such as address, house registration copy, phone number, email, and emergency contact.
(3) Financial Information such as bank account numbers.
(4) Organizational Information such as affiliated organization, workplace, and job title.
(5) Educational and Professional Information such as education background, training, expertise, and achievements.
(6) Participation History in FTI activities or projects.
(7) Health Screening Information under public disease control measures.
(8) Other Necessary Personal Data for background verification, suitability assessment, or risk evaluation before entering into transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, copies of national ID cards (excluding sensitive data), passports (excluding sensitive data), and house registration documents (excluding sensitive data).
3. Data Retention Period
FTI will retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes stated in this notification. The retention period is determined by the ongoing necessity to use the data for the defined purposes and may extend to comply with applicable laws, legal limitations, the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, or for other internal organizational policy reasons.
4. Disclosure of Personal Data to Third Parties
We may disclose or share your personal data with individuals and/or legal entities only as necessary to fulfill the processing purposes outlined in this notification. We will ensure that recipients of your data implement appropriate data protection measures and process your personal data only to the extent necessary, while also requiring them to prevent unauthorized or unlawful use or disclosure of your personal data.
5. Cross-Border Data Transfers
FTI may need to transfer your personal data to foreign countries with data protection standards different from Thailand. This may occur due to our internal networks or partnerships with international organizations, or when conducting transactions with foreign entities. Consequently, your personal data may be shared with public or private sector organizations and other related parties abroad, as required for our normal operations. It may also be disclosed internationally for litigation or arbitration purposes in the future.
Additionally, your data may be stored on foreign-based servers or cloud services and processed via third-party software or applications located overseas.
However, in all such transfers, FTI will comply with the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and relevant current or future regulations.
6. Data Subject Rights
As the owner of your personal data, you have the rights granted under the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). You may exercise these rights through the channels specified by FTI or via the FTI website. Your rights include:
6.1 Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent at any time while your data is held by FTI.
6.2 Right to Access: You may request access to your personal data and obtain a copy. You may also request disclosure of how we obtained data that you did not directly provide.
6.3 Right to Rectification: You may request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
6.4 Right to Erasure: You may request that we delete your personal data as permitted by law. However, for data stored in electronic systems where deletion is not possible, FTI will anonymize such data to make it unidentifiable.
6.5 Right to Restriction of Processing: You may request a restriction on data processing for certain reasons.
6.6 Right to Data Portability: You may request that your personal data be transferred to another controller or to yourself for certain reasons.
6.7 Right to Object: You may object to the processing of your personal data for specific reasons.

There is no fee to exercise your rights. FTI will consider and respond to your request within 30 days from the date of receipt.
7. Updates to This Notification
We may revise this Personal Data Processing Notification from time to time. When changes occur, we will notify you via the FTI website and/or by email. Where additional consent is required, we will obtain such consent from you.
